Any vehicle owner/operator who receives a parking violation notice may contest that violation if there are grounds for appeal. Lack of knowledge of university parking rules and regulations does not constitute valid grounds for appeal.
Appeals for parking violations are heard by the Washington University in St. Louis Parking Appeals Committee. Appeals of violation notices must be submitted to the committee (in writing) within seven calendar days of the violation.
The committee’s decision will be reached on the merits of the submitted written appeal and with regard to Washington University parking regulations. The decision of the University Parking Appeals Committee is final.
Faculty/staff and student representatives make up the University Parking Appeals Committee. The committee meets monthly during the academic year to adjudicate written appeals. At least three committee members must be in attendance in order to have a quorum.
The appellant will be notified of the committee’s decision in writing after the appeal hearing.
