New Shuttle Pilot: Shopper Shuttle

WashU Parking & Transportation is piloting a new shuttle route called the Shopper Shuttle. This shuttle will run from Danforth Campus to the Saint Louis Galleria Mall, Brentwood Promenade, and Walmart in Maplewood.

This shuttle will begin service on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Shopper Shuttle will run on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with pick-ups from Danforth campus at the top of every hour.

The proposed route for this shuttle includes:

  • Stop #1: Dardick House on Shepley Drive
  • Stop #2: The Clocktower on Shepley Drive
  • Stop #3: The Village House on Snow Way
  • Stop #4: Millbrook Garage on Snow Way
  • Stop #5: Saint Louis Galleria
  • Stop #6: Target in Brentwood Promenade
  • Stop #7: Walmart in Maplewood Commons

This shuttle route was introduced based on student feedback to make essential goods and services more accessible to students, particularly those living on campus. This shuttle will provide a convenient, safe, and direct route to shopping experiences. It can reduce the carbon footprint associated with individual trips by consolidating trips into one shuttle service.

Sophie Leong, a third year student at WashU, thinks this is a great opportunity for students to have something fun to do on the weekend off campus.

“This shuttle will provide a more direct, timely route to these shopping locations and may make first- and second-year students feel safer compared to other modes of transportation,” she said. “Also, there are so many other locations that students will take advantage of on this route including Michaels for art supplies, Micro Center for tech support, Chick-fil-A, and First Watch!”

Harlem Taylor, a second-year student at WashU, noted that this shuttle will be widely appealing to most all students.

“Going to the mall and going on a Target run are social activities. Most students visit these places for grocery shopping and essentials for their room,” Taylor said. “I also feel like this shuttle will help lessen the load on the Enterprise Car Share program which is usually booked out far in advance.”

The WashU Shopper will run as a pilot during the Spring 2025 semester.  The decision to continue in the fall semester will be based off rider feedback and shuttle usage.

Riders can provide their feedback about the Shopper Shuttle here or through the mobile app TripShot.
