May Commencement Parking

We are expecting more than 20,000 guests on campus for May Commencement starting Friday, May 12, which will impact traffic and permit holder parking in Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4. Specifically: 

Friday, May 12 – Sunday, May 14
While there will not be any changes to university shuttles or Metro bus routes, the entire area of Zone 2 north of Forsyth (including the Danforth Underground Garage) will be utilized for Commencement Exercises.

South Core Traffic Flow:

Commencement Attendees and Guests (May 12-14)
*Attendees and guests accessing the south core are encouraged to do so via westbound Forsyth from Skinker Blvd.

Accessible drop-off and parking

Commencement guests with accessible needs and a state issued accessible placard/license plate will be allowed to park in the Danforth University Center Garage. The accessible drop-off area in Lot 35 and accessible parking can be accessed via Forsyth and Wallace Drive only.

Hotel Shuttle, Uber, Lyft and Taxi Traffic

Three areas on the south core of campus have been designated for hotel shuttle, Uber, Lyft and taxi traffic.

  • Lot 35 (the surface lot south of Simon Hall), which can be accessed via Forsyth and Wallace Drive.
  • Drop-off/Pick-up zone south of Mallinckrodt directly across from the bus plaza, which can be accessed via Forsyth and northbound Wallace.
  • Lot 13 (the north side of Forsyth on-street parking), which can be accessed by westbound Forsyth traffic.
Faculty and Staff

Due to the high volume of guests expected on campus between May 12 and May 14, we encourage you to use alternative methods of transportation, including biking, carpooling or parking at West Campus. If you choose to bring a car to campus, parking will be based on traffic flow/restrictions and the available spaces. Please note that these spaces may not be tied to your designated zone, permit type, or preferred parking area.

Zone 1:
Permit Holders parking in East End Garage may park on the lower level (P2).

Zone 2:
Accessible Parking: Permit holders with a fully-displayed, state-issued accessible placard or license plate may park in the DUC Garage. Access will only be available via Forsyth and Wallace Drive.

Zone 3:
Permit Holders parking in Snow Way Garage may park on the lower level, level 1 and level 2.

Monday, May 15

On Monday, May 15, the entirety of main campus in conjunction with the South40 will be utilized for Commencement. Neighborhood shuttles will not be in service on Monday, May 15. Please review specific details below.

• Metro bus will not enter campus until 2pm; routes will be altered with stops along the perimeter of campus.

• Accessible Parking: Zone 2 permit holders with accessible needs that display a valid state issued accessible placard/license plate will be allowed to park in the DUC Garage. The DUC Garage will be accessible via Forsyth and Olympian Way.

Zone 3:
• Accessible Parking: Zone 3 permit holders with accessible needs that display a valid state issued accessible placard/license plate will be allowed to park in the Snow Way or Millbrook Garage.

Zone 4:
• Accessible Parking: Zone 4 permit holders with accessible needs that display a valid state issued accessible placard/license plate should park on the east side of the Shepley Garage roof and utilize the elevator in Gregg.
